Lima City School District adjusts for major budget changes
Budget cuts are forcing several layoffs and pay cuts for the Lima City School District. The Lima City Board of Education met Thursday evening to discuss the cuts and other changes for the schools.
A brighter side of the meeting focused on updates at Lima Stadium. The board approved a bid to put in the concrete bleacher pad as soon as the weather permits.
Bleachers were previously approved to be put up at the beginning of May.
The Lima City School District if facing a $3.8 million reduction in their budget. This caused a reconfiguration of their Ohio Association of Public School Employees support staff. Less than a dozen employees were laid off and now some are taking pay cuts.
The next board of education meeting will be held on March 10 at Independence Elementary school.
