For the past 14 years, a local crew has been building ramps for the disabled. Now they're worried that they may be putting in their last plank. Funding is dwindling for the UAW-Ford Ramp Crew.
These retirees get together every spring to build ramps for veterans, the elderly, children and anyone in need. Last year they only had enough funding to build 44 ramps, missing some additional requests.
The crew spends their time, labor, gas and expertise in these ramps. Crew coordinator Jack Rex said they are in desperate need to keep the ramp project afloat.
Crouse Lumber offers discounted materials to the ramp crew.
