ADA, OHIO -
The earlier a student takes an interest in a subject, the better they can prepare to enter their dream profession.
Ohio Northern University is hosting camps all summer long so high school students can explore different career paths. The honors students get to choose from a variety of subjects ranging from pharmacy to forensics. Several students took part in an herbal medicine camp. They conducted an experiment to determine if breathing in boiled herbs could increase lung capacity. For the students the lessons are fun, but instructors say there are also practical tips the kids can take with them in the future.
Camper Ambika Shoemaker enjoyed making lip gloss and facial products. Camp director Dr. Vicki Moatz says many students who participate have an interest in pursuing a career in pharmacy.
This is just the first session of the weeklong camps. Two more academic camps will introduce students to careers such as theater, physics, and law.
