Celina couple hopes to adopt girl in Haiti

Posted: Updated:

A Celina couple, married only two years and already with eight children, want to adopt a little girl from Haiti, and is running into roadblocks.
Julie and Jon Kraner met 10 year old Rose Berline on a mission trip to Haiti in October.
Berline lost her mother in the earthquake that hit Haiti more than two years ago. She is staying at his home for children in Haiti, an orphanage run by Hal and Chris Nungester from Harrod.
Haitian law currently prohibits adoption to parents that have been married less than ten years.      The Kraners were even asked to tell their story to "CBS This Morning" in a segment which aired last Thursday. A news crew interviewed them in their Celina home for five hours and another crew went to Haiti to investigate the situation there.
The Kraners hope by sharing their story it will make others think of the children in Haiti without a home or parents.
The Kraners have already filed the necessary adoption papers and are hoping to someday bring Rose to a new home in the United States.
The Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Celina, is planning another mission trip to Haiti in May and are hoping for some positive news in the meantime about their effort to adopt Rose.
