Kasich talks Cooper

Posted: Updated:

Governor Kasich is giving his two cents on the Cooper Tire lockout in Findlay.

During a stop today (Friday) in the Flag City, Kasich was met by several questions about the labor strife at the plant and the more than one thousand employees off the assembly lines.

He says he hopes the situation gets worked out and feels discussions between the company's top brass and union are the only way the situation will be resolved.

But he says for now, it's a big problem.

Kasich says he doesn't feel it's his place to get involved in the Cooper situation.

He did talk early on with the CEO of Cooper but feels the situation needs to play out on its own without governmental interference.

Kasich was a vocal supporter of the original Senate Bill five dealing with limiting collective bargaining.

He says Ohio has been lucky in that there has been relatively little labor unrest over the past few years.
