I was born and raised on a farm 15 miles east of Lima and graduated from Ada High School. Yes that's right, I am a local boy! I gained my interest in the weather at a young age, mostly from my dad who is a private pilot. Flying allowed me to view weather and clouds like most never get the chance to see. During my senior year of high school, I job shadowed Darren Maier whom you might remember as the previous Chief Meteorologist before Kyle. After spending the day with him I realized forecasting the weather is what I wanted to do!
After graduating high school I left Ohio for a few years to study meteorology at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. This spring I will be graduating and receiving a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology with a minor in Broadcasting. While in college I have been very involved in my fraternity Delta Sigma Phi and in the campus news WIU TV 3. As a sophomore, I started at forecasting the weather on air at WIU as an anchor. The summer before my senior year of college I came back to Ohio and had the opportunity to intern at WLIO under Darren.
Now I am back here at your hometown stations! I am very excited to be here and join the weather team with Kyle Adams and Adam Klotz. When I am not focused on the weather in forecast center, I enjoy being outside in the weather riding sport bikes and wake boarding. So if you see me out and about in the Lima area, feel free to say hi. I love to meet new people and talk about anything. Be sure to join me at 6 and 11 on the weekends for your full weather forecast. Please feel free like me on Facebook at WLIO WOHL Weather Team or myself Wes Houx WLIO, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can connect online!
