It's no mystery the City of Findlay has flooding problems. What is still in question though, how to fix the problem. Thursday, two political candidates weighed in on how they would address the issue.
Democrats Angela Zimmann who's running for the 5th Congressional Seat and John Kostyo, who's campaigning for the State's 83rd House Seat held a town hall meeting tonight to answer questions from the public.
When it comes to the lockout at Cooper Tire, both candidates said they support the union workers and want to help find a way to get them back to work.
Much of the discussion focused on flooding in the city and how they can help. Zimmann says if elected she'll put more pressure on the Army Corps of Engineers to get the job done.
"I believe in working with state and local officials as well as at the federal level to collaborate and corroborate to see what we can do to get this accomplished is my number one priority. I believe that the Army Corps of Engineers has been working on this, they're getting a plan in place and we just have to be ready to cooperate and move this along as quickly as possible," Zimmann said.
Kostyo says once the Army Corps comes back with its recommendations he'll work at the state level to get funding to pay for upgrades.
"Maybe some of the casino funds that come into the state would come into that because those are not all allocated but certainly we can allocate some of those to infrastructure or to solutions we have in Ohio. If we employ Ohio people, have Ohio jobs and rebuild Ohio," Kostyo said.
The candidates also tackled budget issues, city politics, and big business during the town hall meeting.
