Lima's mascot goes into history, and gets a new look. The original Beanie has retired and was inducted into the Allen County Museum Thursday.
He was created in 1994 to serve as an educational tool. Since then Beanie's visited hundreds of second grade students, walked in parades, and attended neighborhood meetings and events.
After all of that it's time to give the original Beanie a break. From now on you'll find the friendly lima bean in the museum.
Even though the original Beanie is in the museum, you'll see a new Beanie around town. Other than a few small differences Beanie is basically the same and you'll still see it various city events.
