A rash of break-ins in Van Wert has area law enforcement on high alert.

Several local residences were burglarized or had items stolen from vehicles parked at the residences over the weekend. Van Wert police are investigating break-ins and thefts from vehicles that occurred in a number of places including the areas near Elm Street and Gordon and Dickinson Avenues.
