While over 1,000 union workers continue a nearly 3 month long lock out at Cooper Tire, two other union locals have reached new labor agreements with the company.
Cooper announced Monday that contract agreements were reached with Teamsters Local 20, which represents its fleet truck drivers in Findlay. Specific terms of the agreement are unknown, but the contract is for three years. Another 4-year deal was reached last week with United Steelworkers Local 556L at their plant in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Details of those negotiations were not revealed. Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. declined comment on camera regarding these negotiations, as did the locked out workers in Findlay. The workers did say, however, that negotiations should have started at their plant first, but remain hopeful that some type of agreement will happen in the future. Talks resumed today with the tire company and its locked out Findlay workers. Union members are planning to demonstrate in front of the plant next Monday.
