It's St. Patrick's Day in Lima and many of you may have taken to the bars today to partake in the revelry and the green beer. This year's celebration was more subdued thanks to a decision to move the Irish Day Parade a week earlier. The parade did bring in big crowds to the downtown, but this week on the actual holiday, it's just not the same experience. Over at Mulligans on W. High St., the mid-afternoon crowd was pretty light, especially for St. Patrick's Day. Customer Fred Mortimer says shifting the parade a week earlier didn't make much sense to him. From a downtown bar owner's perspective, having the parade on St. Patrick's Day would have been better for business. Even though they did benefit from the parade a week earlier, it's kind of like having two holidays in subsequent Saturday's. Cody Franklin says the planning that goes into a St. Patrick's Day at any bar must be made months in advance especially when it comes to booking bands for the big day.
