New technology coming to classrooms at Bluffton Public Schools thanks to a big donation from the biggest company in the Village of Bluffton.
DTR Toyota donated $15,000 to the school district. The district plans on using the money for new interactive devices and document cameras in some of the classrooms.
Superintendent Greg Denecker says keeping up with ever-changing technology is always difficult, but this donation makes that a little easier and the more tools available in a classroom, the greater chance of a student's success.
"This is an ongoing effort to stay up on technology and to give our students and teachers the tools necessary for the changing world of technology and just being able to have the things necessary for them to be ready for the next stage of their life as they leave our doors as they graduate," Denecker said.
"When you look at a company like DTR, DTR is heavily reliant on Bluffton and the surrounding community to support their business operations so I think it's fantastic we can give back to the local schools," Toyota Vice President of Purchasing, Robert Young, said.
This is the second time in 10 years DTR and Toyota have donated money to the school district. Back in 2003 the money also went toward technology upgrades.
