A wind turbine project for Kalida Manufacturing Inc. has been temporarily derailed.
Kalida Village Council decided tonight to put the matter up for a vote by village residents.
Last week council shot down a zoning height variance for the two proposed wind turbines. Kalida Manufacturing Inc. was looking at locating the turbines on a site near their Manufacturing plant.
Council could have decided to hold a special election in August, but because of the cost, decided to try and get the matter on the November ballot.
Because of the delays the project is up in the air.
Plant Manager Rick Esch says until this is settled, their request to annex land into the village is on hold. That land would have been used for the wind turbines and a possible expansion of the plant, which could have meant more jobs for the area.
