Many of us have never really thought about what happens after you drop off materials at recycling sites.
As part of Earth Day the Van Wert community got the chance to see what happens to all that paper and plastic when it arrives at the processing facility.
People got a chance to tour the Van Wert Solid Waste Management District's Material Recovery Facility where recycled material is processed every day.
As part of the day, 1,000 sugar maple tree seedlings were given out as well as thousands of free books.
It was also a chance for residents to drop off their un-needed appliances and electronics and to pick up some mulch.
Director George Brake says you might be surprised at how much waste they recycle every day.
