As summer inches closer, flowers and other plants inch closer towards the surface. Lima's Children's Garden received a spring-time cleaning to help get it ready for when warm weather comes our way.
Although it was a little chilly out members and volunteers from Allen County Master Gardeners and Kohl's Association in Action were out pulling weeds, sweeping, and picking up sticks and other debris.
The park serves as a wonderful place for people to go, being located right next to St. Rita's Medical Center and the library, but program coordinator Gretchen Staley says it's all about the education that the garden brings.
While the garden continues to operate and stay well maintained, the garden lost funding from Allen County tax dollars. To keep the garden up and running, Allen County Master Gardeners are always looking for volunteers.
