Community Gardens hands out free seeds

Green thumbs in Findlay got a head start on their vegetable gardens. 

Dozens of people came out to buy starter seedlings of tomatoes, peppers, squash, lettuce, broccoli, onions, carrots and peas from the Community Gardens of Hancock County at the garden site on north Blanchard St. in Findlay.

Bald cypress tree saplings were also given away to the first 250 guests.

Funds raised at the seedling sale will be used for supplies, fertilizer, and fuel for equipment and other garden expenses for the Community Gardens of Hancock County.

The seeds for the starter seedlings were donated by dollarseed.com and Jon Hart of Mentor Initiative.
