The final piece of the puzzle is placed as the Lima Fire Department's reorganization comes to completion.
Wednesday, Chief Mark Heffner named Captain Bruce Black as deputy chief at the fire department. Under the reorganization, the department was to name two deputy chiefs that would in an administrative capacity. The reorganization started back in 2010 when a study was done by an independent source to see how the department could run more efficiently.
The study and subsequent reorganization caused quite a stir in the community as two out stations were closed and several personnel changes were made. Heffner states that with the final element in place the department is back on track. Black has been with the department since 1989.
