Unionized Husky workers headed to contract vote

Posted: Updated:
LIMA, OHIO -

More than 200 unionized workers at Husky's Lima Refinery will vote on the company's last, best and final contract offer.

Union president Mike Edelbrock says ratification meetings will be held tomorrow for members of United Steel Workers Local 624.

Members will get the chance to review the offer at one of two meetings and will then get to vote. The previous three year contract expired on April 15th.

Edelbrock said union members agreed to work under the expired contract as long as negotiations continued to progress.

Last week Edelbrock told Your News Now union members voted almost unanimously for a strike authorization at the refinery,

However, he also said members are not hoping for a strike. Their hang up with the proposed contract centers around worker rights, not monetary gains.
