The man who wanted to open a gay community center fights to keep the building standing by filing an injunction against the city.
Bill Dakota owns the Studio 'D' building at 136 East High Street. In April, the building appeals board ordered the building be demolished. Thursday, Dakota filed papers to prevent demolition and a permanent injunction to keep the building inspector off the property. Dakota says the building appeals board is trying to cover up the facts. He also says there's a conflict of interest involving one of the board members and a local demolition company.
Dakota claims he would have made $30,000 dollars a month if the center was open and wants to be reimbursed that money.
