To help low income Americans achieve economic security is the goal for over 11 hundred community action agencies across the country and the Lima Allen Council on Community Affairs is one of those agencies.
Since 1993, LACCA has provided services to residents in Allen County that have fallen on tough times. The agency currently provides 15 different programs to educate clients including financial literacy, comprehensive health issues, energy assistance, an home ownership. With May designated as Community Action Awareness Month, Executive Director Jackie Fox says it is important for people to understand there is help out there.
The state allows LACCA to provide programs and service, but they can not actually build housing units. That is why the state has designated the WSOS community action group as the source for actual brick and mortar housing units in west central Ohio. WSOS is the Wood, Sandusky, Ottawa and Seneca County agency. They are currently working with Allen County on the Shirley Daley Senior Housing Development on Spring Street.
