To help drive the sales of fishing licensing and to create a passion for fishing in the hearts of the younger generation, this weekend, the National Park District offered free fishing.
Fishing his whole life, Walt Ramsey was out this weekend fishing for crappie. Living in Bellville, Ohio, Walt came down to visit his family. When he packed his car, he was sure to pack his fishing gear so he could do a little fishing at Grand Lake Saint Mary's. Although Walt already bought his license, he fully supports the efforts of the National Park District, as free fishing days help bring family together and create a new hobby for others.
Also hitting the lake this weekend, the Puccio family, who came together to take advantage of the free fishing days. A junior at BGSU, Nicholas Puccio doesn't plan on purchasing a license after his fishing trip, he simply saw it as an opportunity to spend time with his family.
For Dan Dawson, free fishing days mean very little. With a mild winter and a passion for fishing, Dan fished all winter long through the snow and ice. Now with warmer weather, Dan is out fishing once again, this time in shorts and a T-shirt.
