With Warmer Weather Comes Increased Crime

Posted:

The warm Spring we've had this year brought many Summer trends out early, including a rise in crime. The most notable rise was in domestic violence, but it also includes many other crimes as well.

With more people on the snow-less roads, area law enforcement asks that all drivers obey the law and watch their speed. Let the increase in the number of speeding tickets written since January serve as proof that speeding is not being taken lightly.

While many of the crime rates are rising for various crimes, one shocking increase is the number of domestic reports being made to the Allen county sheriff's department. Sgt. Greg Crites stated that the department has already seen more that 50 domestics since January, and 23 of them in April alone.

Several other crimes that the sheriff's department sees an increase in during the warmer months, under-age drinking and noise complaints during social gatherings, DUI's, car crashes, and theft.

Sgt. Crites says that an increase in call load allows the sheriffs department to be ready for any calls that come in, but the best way to avoid the sheriff's department, simply obey the law.
