Health officials say more teen girls use the best kinds of birth control.
According to a survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 60 percent of teen girls who have sex use the most effective kinds of contraception like the pill, patch, vaginal ring, IUD, arm implant and contraceptive shot.
In the mid 19-90's less than half were using the best.
Allen County Health Department Director of nursing Becky Dershem says one reason may be that some hurdles have been cleared in allowing teens to have greater access to birth control.
Allen County's teen birth rate is about 22 point 3 per thousand live births where the state is at 15 point 7. Nationally the teen birth rate has fallen since 1990.
