A traffic stop in Allen County was anything but routine. The chase began around 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The State Highway Patrol telling Your News Now that 32 year old Francio Vega of Oxford, Michigan, was pulled over just south of Beaverdam.
When a trooper approached the car, Vega took off down 75. Law officials say Vega tried to lose troopers by getting on and off various exits, passing vehicles on the burm. Troopers deployed stop sticks at 309. Vega hit the sticks but continued to drive. Troopers then set up a moving roadblock, forcing the driver into a guardrail. He then attempted to flee through the sun roof but was then tased, wrestled to the ground and handcuffed.
Vega was taken into custody and is being held on felony fleeing charges. He told officers he ran because he has a warrant in Michigan and was facing jail time. Charges are pending. The incident remains under investigation.
