They have been protecting the Lima community for over a century.
It was May 1st 1887 when the Lima Police Department was established with 7 officers and today they have 72 on the force.
This weekend the department wants to say "thank you" to the community with a celebration.
Saturday will be a day of history and fun at the Allen County Museum as you can learn about police enforcement through the years.
An open house from 1 to 4 will have displays and activities for the whole family.
Chief Kevin Martin says it is important that the police department to involve the community.
The open house will be from 1 to 4 this Saturday, May 12th at the Allen County Museum.
Kids can even become a junior LPD detective by completing a scavenger hunt.
