
There was a little more to pick up for local postal carriers today.
As part of the United States Postal Service's annual Stamp Out Hunger event, thousands of letter carriers around the country picked up donated food to help out the needy.
Area residents set bags of non-perishable food items by the door and their mail carrier did the rest.

Last year's event brought in more than 70 million pounds of food nationwide. All of the food donated goes to food banks to help those most in need.
