Retirement After 24 Years in Lima

Posted: Updated:
Lima Ohio -

Jim Reber started in the healthcare administration back in 1972, working in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Ohio. Coming to Lima in 1988, Jim has served as the president and CEO for Lima's Saint Rita's Medical Center for the past 24 years. On Friday, Reber will step down, allowing Brian Smith to take over leadership of the hospital and its day-to-day operations.

To commemorate his retirement, Jim held a retirement party at the Shawnee Country Club Tuesday evening, inviting friends and family to enjoy a catered meal and friendly conversation.

While Jim believes its time to move on, there are a few aspects of the hospital that he will miss, citing the patients his colleagues as two of those things he will miss.

Looking at life after retirement, Jim plans to attend his son's wedding in two weeks and take a vacation with his family. On a more serious note, Reber will take on the role of part time consultant for a company providing statewide health insurance products.
