Need for Blood Continues in Summer

Posted: Updated:

Summertime... A season of warm days and vacations. It's a time to get away from it all. But the Red Cross is still in need of blood during the summer months.

You may not have realized it but high school and college students donate about 20 percent of the blood collected by the Red Cross. Many give at scheduled drives at their high schools and colleges. When those drives stop, most students don't remember to continue to give the gift of life.

Karen Jantzy with the Allen County Chapter of the American Red Cross says the need for blood never takes a vacation.

On Monday you can roll up a sleeve and save a life at a blood drive at Heritage Elementary in Lima. Hours of that blood drive are one to five p.m.

On Wednesday OSU Lima and Rhodes State College will host a blood drive from ten until four.

Then on May 29th Lima Memorial Hospital is hosting a blood drive from ten until four.
