The Highway Patrol needs a few good men or women.
Right now there's a recruitment effort to try and find candidates for the Ohio State Highway Patrol Training Academy in Columbus.
At the Van Wert Highway Patrol Post, a handful of young men were learning more about the academy and what is all involved in becoming a state trooper.
Twenty one year old Eric Devers of Dola is excited about the possibility of becoming a state trooper.
It's estimated that about 5 troopers are retiring every month and there's a big need to fill those positions.
To become an Ohio State Trooper each applicant must be a U.S. citizen, be an Ohio resident, have a high school diploma or GED certificate, have a valid Ohio drivers license and be 20 to 34 years of age.
