This Memorial Day was unlike any other in recent history for the people of Spencerville.
In honor of the holiday, village residents dedicated the new Spencerville Area Veterans Memorial Park.
Vets who served as far back as World War Two attended the ceremony.
Ohio state representative Matt Huffman was also there.
Park committee members say the Spencerville community outdid themselves in time and donations to the park.
"We have raised over $183,000 dollars in a small community of approximately $2,300 people," said George Cox, Past Dept. of Ohio Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander.
The centerpiece of the park is an 18 ft tall monument.
It's made of granite and weighs more than 20,000 pounds.
