LIMA, OHIO -
The dog that bit and killed a three day old baby last month is euthanized.
The pit bull mix had been under quarantine at the Allen County Dog Warden's Office since May 18th. The infant, Makayla Darnell, was bit in the head the day before.
According to the sheriff's office Darnell was put in a baby swing while her mother and grandmother were in a nearby room. The attack took place at a home just outside of Beaverdam. The baby was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Toledo where she died.
Allen County dog warden Julie Shellhammer said the family no longer wanted the dog. Sheriff Sam Crish says the investigation continues. No charges have been filed.
