"Real Fathers": Making Parenting Easier

Lima Ohio -

For some people, having a child is the best moment of their lives; however, being a parent isn't easy for everyone. One program is offering assistance to area fathers, helping to make real fathers out of all of them.

Meeting every Tuesday at the Lima Allen Council on Community Affairs building, area dads come together to learn how to be what the program calls a "real father."

Real Fathers is a 13 week program, teaching the men how to overcome barriers, how to discipline their children, the importance of playing with their kids and something Program Coach Courtnee Morris considers to be the key to being the perfect dad.

Already having two children, Calvin Foster is expecting a baby girl by the middle of next month. Calvin is using the program to help refresh himself on what it takes to be a dad.

First time dad Damon Cruell is the proud father of a sixteen-month-old girl, with whom he enjoys spending endless amounts of time with. Damon joined the program to learn from other fathers, but found more than that when he and the other dads became family.

Do you have what it takes to be a "Real Father?" Courtnee Morris welcomes all dads to the weekly meetings starting at 5 PM on Tuesdays at the LACCA building.
