Lima Ohio -
While the amount of cancer cases continue to accumulate each year, the survival rate for those individuals continues to improve as well. Much of this success is thanks in part to generous donations, which helps to fund research and improve technology.
According to research by the American Cancer Society, it is estimated that more than 66,000 new cancer cases will develop in Ohio by the end of the year. While that number may be staggering, the five-year survival rate for those living with cancer is now up to 67 percent, as a result of research in genetic make-up. Thanks to research, doctors are now able to treat targeted cancer areas.
With Relay For Life and other organizations bringing in hundreds of thousands of dollars each year, Dr. Rhoades says, more people are able to get the treatment they need. For more information on cancer and cancer research, visit www.cancer.org.
