After miles of wear and tear, car tires can end up bald, punctured and blown. The Hancock County Solid Waste District gave drivers a chance today to properly dispose of their old tires, helping to prevent them from ending up in places they shouldn't be (i.e. fields and ditches).
With Cooper Tire and Rubber sponsoring the event, volunteers were out unloading unwanted tires from car trunks and truck beds, and tossing them into semi trailers. Collecting over 2,200 tires on the day, Director Bob Kras says the three trailers full of tires helps to protect the environment.
Although the tire collection has come to an end, you can still dispose of your unwanted tires. All you have to do is take them to the Hancock County Sanitary Landfill.
