The Allen County Democratic party held their June picnic at the Johnny Appleseed Farm Park.
It was a night of food, companionship, and an opportunity to meet and hear what a few candidates for the November election has to offer. This years picnic was a fundraiser for Connie Miller who is running for Allen County Commissioner. Miller says she's not running because she's a career politician, but because she wants to help make Allen County better. She touts her history of working with Allen County residents to accomplish things.
Miller says things have been status quo for too long and it's time for change in the commissioners office. Miller said, "I think we need people who have a different perspective and who are there for a different reason. My reason to be there is to build a better community, to bring the people together, and to look at some opportunities that we haven't looked at before."
According to Miller, it's been fifteen years since a democrat has held a seat as Allen County commissioner.
