It was a night of music, patriotism, and respect for those who paid the ultimate price at the JSMC tank plant. In front of the Veteran's Freedom Flag Monument, a ceremony was held to honor local fallen soldiers, celebrate Flag Day, and the 237th birthday of the U.S. Army.
The Lima Symphony Orchestra played music as residents looked at the names on the wall to remember loved ones lost and show respect to those they never met. There was also a presentation for four local soldiers that paid the ultimate price. Four plaques will be displayed at the plant for Jon Michael Schoolcraft, Zachary Wobler, Dennis Pintor, and Christian Neff. JSMC Commander, Lt. Col. Yee Hang said, "What we wanted to today was dedicate four gates in honor of the four local American soldiers who lost their lives in the war against terrorism. So what we wanted to do was present four plaques to the family members of the four soldiers who were killed in the war."
The Johnny Appleseed Park District Veteran's Freedom Flag Monument is open for the public to see at any time.
