St. Rita's happy with response to Town Square accident

Updated:

Four of the injured from Friday nights accident in Town Square are still in the hospital -- two are in critical condition and two are stable.

The St. Rita's Emergency Department handled injuries ranging from minor scrapes and bruises to the loss of limbs all in a very short amount of time.

St. Rita's officials say between 9:30 and 10:30 Friday night-- the ER took in about 30 patients -- both those from the rally tragedy and those coming in for other illnesses.

They say, the ER routinely handles that many patients at one time, but rarely are the injuries as extensive.

Officials say the last time they can remember handling such a high volume of badly injured people was after an explosion and fire at Pandora Manufacturing in 2006.

Officials say the entire hospital came together Friday night to make space for all of the patients.

Lima Memorial officials say one person was brought to their emergency department and was released.
