
The black motorist who was beaten by police in Los Angeles in 1991 has died.
The videotaped beating of Rodney King ignited deadly riots in Los Angeles after the officers accused in the beating were cleared of any wrongdoing.
Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine how he died.
He was found by his fiance in the deep end of his swimming pool early this morning.
Reaction tonight to King's death from Jason Upthegrove with the Lima Chapter of the NAACP.
Upthegrove says he didn't understand then why King took the high road after being beaten by Los Angeles Police.
"We thought the last thing we wanted to hear was ‘can't we all get along' because the 25 year old Jason Upthegrove could have told you a thousand reasons why we can't get along because there hasn't been an adequate enough apology. There hasn't been the type of reparations needed to heal those wounds", said Upthegrove.
Rodney King was 47.
The preliminary investigation indicates no signs of foul play.
