Locals comment on Rally in the Square tragedy

Posted: Updated:

In light of the tragedy Friday night were dozens were hurt after a woman plowed through a crowd at the weekly Rally in the Square we asked if the events should continue.

Reaction tonight from people we found earlier today in Lima's Town Square.

Tod Bradshaw comments : "I think they should continue. It's a good opportunity for people to come out and come together and people that normally don't congregate together can come out and see a band and enjoy Lima.

Gina Chiappazzi comments: "Well, I like the idea because I think that it's a really nice thing to do with downtown and to kind of bring stuff back, but I think maybe if they didn't have the parking, like if you weren't allowed to park there maybe it wouldn't have happened because if there wasn't a car there those people wouldn't have gotten hurt."

Joe Deez comments: "I think it's absolutely great what they're doing here in this community and this area is a very beautiful area, unfortunately I do think that they need to block it off more. Most festivals usually don't have parking or driving available where there are people and this is perfect example of what can go wrong when that happens."

It's been estimated that around one thousand people turned out for the Friday night concert featuring the Earthquakers.
