Lima Ohio -
A national breed show brings youth from over 25 states to Lima.
The Allen County Fairgrounds was chosen to host the 2012 Chianina and Maine-Anjou junior nationals. Throughout the week, kids 21 and under will compete for prizes in these cattle shows.
Salesmanship and speech are two types of contests kids enter. They involve marketing an animal to a panel of judges, a skill that Executive Vice President for American Maine-Anjou Association John Boddicker says is crucial no matter what your profession.
"It is a growing process for youth in being able to communicate effectively and market in whatever business they get into later on in life," said Boddicker.
Fair officials say over 600 heads of cattle and 400 junior exhibitors are engaged in competition.
