Rally will continue one week after crash

LIMA, OHIO -

Despite a tragic car crash last Friday, Rally in the Square will be back at the same location this week.

The board of trustees for ArtSpace/Lima, the organization which puts on the summer concerts, met Monday afternoon and have decided to continue with the longstanding event.

A 63 year old woman drove up onto the sidewalk during the concert last Friday and injured nearly 30 people. Bill Sullivan, ArtSpace/Lima's operations manager, says the not-for-profit is working with city officials to improve safety in the town square quadrant. Barriers will be put up on the west side of Main Street, and parking will be limited in the area. Officials stress that they are waiting for the investigation to progress, but in the meantime rally will continue.

Sullivan adds that the board is working on finding ways to recognize the victims of the accident and on ways to thank the first responders for their quick work.

The Stacy Mitchart band will take the stage on Friday from 6:30 to 9:30 in the evening.
