Losing a loved one is difficult at any age, but losing someone when you're a child can be devastating.
A summer camp designed for children going through this emotional time is a place where they can see they are not alone. The 'Trails Camp' is a chance for them to creatively express their grief while sharing their story with other youngsters that have lost a loved one.
Trails participants say that the camp has been a big help to them and that it's not just a one time deal. Many come back each year because they feel the need to remember their loved one and they want to visit with the friends that they have made by attending the camp.
Attendees of the camp say there is always the emptiness of not having their mom or dad with them, but want other kids to know that it does get better with time.
Trails Camp is sponsored by St. Rita's hospice and the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio Appleseed Ridge region.
