The Celina fire department was the first on the scene to control the blaze with support from Montezuma, Coldwater, Burkettsville, St. Henry, and Rockford.
A scary situation in Celina this afternoon when a condominium complex caught fire.
The fire started shortly after 4 p.m. The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time. The state fire marshal will be investigating it's cause Friday. The fire affected twelve apartments and was contained to just one building with minor damage to two neighboring buildings. Although the exact location of where the fire started is unknown, fire fighters say that it did spread quickly.
Lt. Bob Schulte, Celina fire department said, "it's pretty rare for a residential sprinkler building to catch fire but, once again when the fire starts on the outside as it appears it stared it can overwhelm a sprinkler system pretty quickly."
Before the fire got out of hand a few good samaritans rushed to the aid of the residents inside the complex.
Jon Gudorf said, "I ran up the hill, dialed 911 and started knocking on doors trying to get people out. I looked at the lake side and I saw flames that were shooting out and there was some siding melting off so I knew it was pretty hot, so I just keep knocking on doors and just helped get people away from the fire."
