Lima Ohio -
Blood donations were down last month and as a result, the American Red Cross is not only asking for donors, they have issued a rare emergency call for blood. With 50 thousand fewer blood donations than expected during the month of June, the American Red Cross is asking people of all blood types to roll up their sleeves and to give as soon and as often as possible.
The emergency call for donors is rare, but managers of the Allen County Chapter say they understand why, considering its Summer.
The American Red Cross is looking for all blood types, but encourage types O-negative, A-negative and B-negative to come out and donate. Those blood types have the ability to donate Double Red, where two units of packed red blood cells are taken out.
