LIMA, OHIO -

The Lima area will play a key part in a nationwide cancer prevention study and is actively recruiting volunteers for what's being called CPS 3.

The hope is the study will shed light on and add to what we already know about the genetic component of various forms of cancer.

It will also take an in-depth look at environmental and lifestyle factors.

Researchers say the study could be the final push to lock in a better method of determining who may be most at risk for cancer.

But to do that, local colo-rectal cancer survivor Brad Keenan knows it's going to take nearly six hundred volunteers to take part in the study in the five-county area. And after being named the grand champion of the local effort, he is encouraging people to get involved.

You can log on to www.limacps3.org.

All study participants must be between the ages of 30 and 65 and have never been diagnosed with cancer.
