Union President Mike Edelbrock says by the body language Wednesday, he could see workers are preparing for a long, hot summer.
If there were any feelings or thoughts that the Husky Lima Refinery strike would end sooner rather than later, many of those thoughts have gone away.
United Steelworkers Local 624 Union Leadership met with members today to tell them what we told you yesterday. Contract talks lasted only 40 minutes after the union said Husky's proposals were getting worse. Union President Mike Edelbrock says by the body language Wednesday, he could see workers are preparing for a long, hot summer. Edelbrock acknowledged one more person has resigned their union membership and crossed the picket line to return to work, bringing the total to 12. He says workers were told that only helps the company.
Husky spokesman Mel Duvall says the company indicated to the union Tuesday, that they were willing to talk again this week, but they have not heard from the union as to whether they are prepared to do that.
So at this point, no new talks have been scheduled.
