Lots of damage in the Delphos area from yesterdays storms, leaving many residents without power. 24 hours later, clean up efforts get under way.
Many residents view the storm as one of the largest and most destructive in city history, as high winds and heavy rain attacked the city of Delphos, surprising residents.
The storm knocked out power to the home of 89-year-old Ruth Nixon, stranding her in her home. With no electricity, Ruth is forced to sit in her living room without her electric chair lift, without A/C and without her breathing machine.
Walking down the streets of Delphos, branches and leaves litter the road. Several roads are closed down, including the street where a tree fell on a occupied vehicle, sending the driver to the hospital. Occurring right outside of her front door, Ruth says the surprising damage makes this storm the worst she's ever seen.
Delphos resident Pam Griffis was in Van Wert when the storm came in, and says as soon as the wind picked up and the temperatures dropped drastically, she knew this was going to be a big storm.
As the city focuses clean up efforts, so do the residents. Residents like Ruth, who are without electricity, can only hope that the power comes on soon.
