State of Emergency lifted in Forest

Posted: Updated:

A Hardin county village lifts it's "State of Emergency".

Despite that... the cleanup effort continues.

A group of volunteers from Heritage Christian Union Church helps clean up Gormley Park in Forest. Pastor Ken Gray organized the group late Saturday night when it was clear there would be no services Sunday morning due to the continued power outage.

The group then spread their attention to nearby homes affected by the storm.

Damage was widespread in Forest, including damage to the roof of this downtown building.....and this mobile home was crushed by a tree.

Even village Mayor Tom Seem was affected by the storm while driving from Findlay to Forest as a tree limb smashed his windshield.

Much of the power is back on in Forest, but it should take several days to clear the debris from all of the trees that were damaged.

Because of all of the community cooperation in getting Gormley Park cleaned up, the Tree Town Festival is expected to go on as scheduled starting on Friday.
