Lima Central Catholic High School Hires New Principal

Lima Central Catholic High School (LCC) has hired Dr. Kathleen Herpich, formerly of Bensalem, PA as their Principal effective 7/1/2012.  Dr. Herpich received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wilkes University with a certification in Music Education in 1979. In 1989 she received an Elementary Certification from Kean University followed by a Master of Education from Montclair State University in

1995 and a doctorate in Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University in 2002.

 Dr. Herpich has spent the majority of her career in Catholic schools beginning as a teacher and coach at St. Elizabeth Grammar School in Linden, NJ followed by teaching and coaching at St. Anthony Elementary in NJ. After 6 years in Catholic schools, Dr. Herpich spent the next 13 years with the Newark, NJ Public School System and simultaneously was an Adjunct Professor at Montclair State University. In 1999, Dr. Herpich returned to Catholic schools as a Vice Principal with St. Peter the Apostle High School in New Brunswick, NJ where she later served 5 years as their principal as well. In 2007, Dr. Herpich took on the task of serving as a principal in an all boys high school, Father Judge High School in Philadelphia, PA.

 Most recently she comes to LCC from Conwell-Egan Catholic High School in Fairless Hills, PA during which time she also served as Adjunct Professor for graduate students at Holy Family University in Philadelphia.

 Dr. Herpich has a varied background as a teacher of Math, Science, Language Arts, Chorus, Social Studies as well as coaching experience in basketball and softball for

 

grades 5 through 8. At the college level she taught Classroom management, Theories of Management and Education Psychology as well as working with students during their initial infield experiences. At Father Judge High School, Dr. Herpich was instrumental in implementing the teaching strategies of Robert Marzano and integrating technology into the educational experience. According to Lima Central Catholic President Walt Klimaski, "Kathy brings to LCC a strong academic portfolio and we are excited for her to review the LCC academic programs. She was very impressed with the uniqueness of the LCC College on Campus program where students can earn up to 79 college credits."

 

Dr. Herpich is excited about coming to LCC and said "It is essential that students, as well as adults, realize that learning is a life-long process. It never stops. I learn something new everyday. Much of it comes from the great students and teachers with whom I have had the pleasure of working. In the short time that I visited LCC

I was very impressed with what is being done both academically and in the area of extra-curricular activities. I am very excited about coming to LCC and seeing this new relationship flourish."
