For boating enthusiast Bob Brenneman, boating on Grand Lake St. Marys is something he still enjoys and it appears many other people do too despite the continued presence of toxic algae in the water.
The toxic algae that we've seen over the past few years has diminished somewhat, but Milt Miller with the Grand Lake St. Marys Restoration Commission says the recent heat wave has spurred more algae growth.
Grand Lake St. Marys parks manager Brian Miller says the higher numbers recorded during this latest heat wave are still less than previous years.
The drought has caused some problems for boaters with water levels down from last year with a few more boats having trouble getting out of the channels without hitting stumps or the bottom of the lake.
